Description
This creative, unique mixed media artwork is inspired by satellite images of my district. The colours, patterns and shapes are very beautiful and incredibly interesting. The line is the Darling River. I have collected different shades of grey floodplain and red soil and used them directly to colour the artworks. The texture is wonderful.
“Where the Darling Flows” depicts the interesting flowing line made by the river as it winds its way through the landscape. Anabranches and tributaries wander about the floodplain, while billabongs hold water when rainfall allows. The grey floodplain and higher red soil create limitless patterns and textures. Part of the patterning is made by trees and bushes. River red gums line the main channel of the river, while coolibahs dominate the floodplain. Away from the river, the main vegetation is Mulga, Box, Gidgee and Leopardwood, with a ground cover of saltbush and blue bush.
I hope this intriguing artwork touches your soul with the narrative of the Darling River landscape and the real soil, the soul, of the landscape.
